There’s nothing like a good idea... and that sir.. is nothing like a good idea. Some harsh comments perhaps but the greatest feedback you can get is an honest one. Now I'm not saying that it should just be any "schmuck" off the street that you should rely on for providing you feedback on your business idea. In fact, there may be times where the experienced guide acts as a perfect sounding board. But when it comes to validation of your start up idea, the goal is many ears and multiple points of feedback. It's the collective voice that matters. So often teams are forced to pitch with the only feedback being the compulsory applause, and perhaps the voice of just a few panel folk ...

Anyone else feel happy, excited, exhausted, amazed, honoured, overwhelmed, surprised, exhilarated - and overall just looking forward to your next session??! A few weeks ago was my “first day at school” at school for the season. Having been through the program last year, I was sure this was going to be a breeze… Last year I did an extracurricular program. We started with an overwhelming 26 students and 7 team across year 10, 11 and 12. The attendance soon whittled down as people got busy with other things, but we had 3 solid teams that completed and the most successful one winning a prize at the Gala Night. When I graduated from high school I had no idea what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I just knew that I had so much energy to give, but didn’t know where to place it. I look around at students graduating from secondary schools today, and see that many mirror my own experience. I was lucky though. I had a father who kicked me out of bed and demanded that I get a job. I got even luckier as I landed up working for an incredibly inspiring woman, who mentored me for the ten years I was with her. But for many, their gap year, leads to further indecision, leads to wasted enrolments, leads to rising numbers ...Where Have All the Girls Gone?
